Emigriamo?

Let's emigrate!

When I was in Australia I used to say to the guys over there how much I would loved to stay and live there…and their answer was “why the hell would you want to stay here?there’s nothing here and you come from Europe!”

What I noticed was the deep differente between the italian youth and the australian one. They were moving, creating, living and working as if nothing else was around them.I mean my feeling was that they were not effected by the weight of history or by the depressing idea that everything had already been made or said (that was MY depressing idea, years ago!)
It was clear how young that country was (not talking about the aboriginal Australia).
Maybe the huge distance helped creating that feeling.

For us, leaving is the imperative.Maybe not for everyone but sure it is something we all feel. And it must be!

Here, it doesent matter how experienced you are.If you’re young you’ll get  an undecent salary and no hope to grow professionally.

So here we are with the migrating stories!

When we leave countries behind to create new beginnings.... what do we bring with us? Our family, culture and country have taught our sense of conditioning since birth. People from so many different cultures and conditionings have created Australia, that there are so many choices on how to live and what to believe.
WE now live in a world in which a place, at the end of the world, a huge island closer to the Antarctica than any European civilization, can be just as connected with the world as anywhere else. Cyberspace has allowed this connection. This point is very relevant to the new generation that feels not a citizen of a country... but of the world.
However this has not always been the situation, Australia has been a place of isolation and new beginnings, a place in which you can create for yourself the life you want, without social restraints. Sure they still exist. It is not to promote Australia as the place of freedom utopia, but it is in a sense, young. Things are still yet to be done, the past is distant. We cannot live in the past and be present in the future.
Most Australians look to the big metropolises of the world as places of culture, art and creation. Places that are really moving...and we sometimes forget that we have an opportunity here, to create.
The world is changing very fast, we are becoming not only citizens of the world but gender roles are fading. We no longer have the same obligations as woman to marry and have children. Men no longer have to remain emotionless strongmen who can't express their feelings. We are free in new ways to choose what we wish to become. However this rejection of the past and its constraints is too often replaced by material consumerism.
If you can be whatever gender, whatever religion, and whatever culture...what is it that you wish to become?
What is it as citizens of the world...do we wish to create as our future?

The comment above is very true, especially being citizens of the world, not so much the city.

While this country does have a very relaxed way of life and a very young outlook upon things, it's a shame to think that we do not share such amazing history and culture as other parts of the world. I guess this also lends to the wonder why people would want to live here from such culturally and historically rich parts of the world.

As I get older, I find myself wishing more and more to want to live life in constant motion, never settling down in one country for good. The world has more knowledge to offer us than any of us will learn about in one lifetime. It seems almost unfair that we bind ourselves to money and careers, instead of learning what the world has to offer.

Each culture has their own stereotypes and ideals, and I think we all desire for something different than our own. When my brother went to Rome, he would report how different people were there. People would look at you in the eye on the street, greet you... while here, most people keep to themselves, stare at the ground and don't approach strangers.
